If you are ever in Houston and are hungry for something exotic and tastey,  exit Highway 59 at Kirby, go north to Richmond, turn right, and on the left one will find one of India’s great import’s to Houston, Texas. The Khyber Grill has been serving Northern Indian food to hungry Houstonians of discriminating tastes for over a dozen years. It is considered by many the finest place to eat Indian food in Houston, if not in all of south east Texas,

Upon entering the Indian food establishment, one will be assaulted by the heady aroma of Indian spices and the sound of sizzling meat in the clay, tandoori ovens. If one is not already hungry for Indian food by that time, one will surely be within seconds of entering the Khyber Grill.

For an appetizer, one cannot go wrong with an order of samoosas, a flaky opastry filled with vegetables. A good alternative is an order of saag paneer, a kind of grilled cheese mixed with spices.

With the main meal, be sure to have some lassi, a kind of yogurt based shake. It comes sweet or salty, but this reviewer recommends the sweet.

For the main meal, one can order tandoori, a kind of North Indian barbeque. Bits of meat, such as chicken or lamb, are stuck on skewers and are grilled inside deep ovens made out of clay. The best the Khyber Grill has to offer is a garlicy Chicken Afghani. Chicken Tikka, and other tandoori dishes with lamb or sea food are also available.

Curry, a trdaitional staple of Indian food, is another good alternative. One can get them with chicken, lamb, or sea food in varying degrees of heat. The hottest curry would be a Vindaloo, which by all accounts is heavily spiced with gun powder. It is not for the faint hearted and should be accompanied by a full pitcher of water.

There are various vegetarian dishes available, including rice pillou. Main curry dishes come with sides of rice, raita (a kind of cool, yogurt salad) a cucumber and tomato based salad, and naan, a succulent Indian bread that is grilled in the tandoori oven. Orders of various kinds of naan, stuffed with onions or raisins and other good things, are also available.

There are some tasty desserts available as well. The rice pudding is especially delightful.

But sure to check the outside marquee. For more than seven years now, Khyber Grill's Mickey Kapoor has been using his marquee to taunt the neighboring Pappadeaux's. When the seafood restaurant wrote, "Hiring today 3 to 5," Kapoor replied, "My, You Do Start Them Young!" When Pappadeaux posted, "Happy Hour 4 to 6," Khyber responded, "DWI 8 to 12." When the establishment bragged, "Our Softshelled Crabs Will Reach Out and Grab You," Kapoor fired back, "Pervert!" People in Houston have been known to drive out of their way just to see what the restaurateur will come up with next, and so far the targets of Kapoor's barbs have taken them all in good stride.

Mexican food has been a favorite in the United States for decades, and authentic Mexican food is what many Mexican food lovers are seeking. There are many restaurants in the Northeast Indiana area that serve foods advertised as Mexican, but these Northeast Indiana restaurants don’t serve authentic Mexican food. These Northeast Indiana restaurants serve foods that simply use the many spices and ingredients found in Mexican food, and although they are good, these dishes aren’t authentic.

Northeast Indiana restaurant chains that serve foods they claim to be Mexican are generally more expensive than authentic Mexican restaurants. Those who love Mexican food have a variety of authentic Mexican restaurants to choose from in Northeast Indiana. Not only can Mexican restaurant patrons in Northeast Indiana experience authentic Mexican food, they can save money while enjoying a meal that is truly Mexican in every sense of the word. Step into one of many authentic Mexican restaurants in Northeast Indiana, and you’ll feel as if you’ve stepped across the border into a Mexican village filled with the sounds and aromas experienced at an authentic Mexican fiesta.

After placing an order at Si Senior in Northeast Indiana, customers are treated to complimentary authentic tortilla chips and home style Mexican salsa. Although rather spicy for those who don’t care for hot foods, the home style Mexican salsa and chips is a flavorful appetizer to enjoy while waiting for the main course. This is a great way to begin experiencing the truly authentic Mexican cuisine offered by this Northeast Indiana restaurant.

The price of entrees at Si Senior are average compared to other Northeast Indiana restaurants, but alcoholic drinks should be avoided if on a budget. There are several places were you can buy food online, like Amazon.com, Homecookingx.com and a slew of other places. But is it really safe for you and your family? There are now even the food delivery services that allow you to order you food and have it delivered that same day. This seems like a great idea for parents especially during those nasty winter months. Although you will usually end up paying a much higher price for food online than you would if you just went to the store and brought it yourself.

Most likely this is because of the delivery charge. Some of the parents that I have spoken with that have used it said the food was of good quality which is one of the main concerns. Some feel however that they would never like buying food online because they prefer to see it and smell it before they consider buying it, especially when it comes to produce.

Before you start buying food you will want to make sure that it is a reputable company. So make sure you do your homework. Many people are very picky however when it comes to their meat. This may be something that you will want to venture out to the store for yourself. Try looking for a website that includes articles and reviews from other customers. Feedback is great when you are trying to decide about buying something online, especially food. If you are still unsure after reading other reviews, you might want to start by ordering a few boxed items.

This is also a great way to order your baby products. You can buy diapers and wipes in bulk and you can shop around for online coupons. There are plenty of websites that now list online coupons for different companies. Try doing a search on google and you are sure to find a large amount. This will help to cover the shipping fee that you have to pay for delivery. The main thing about buying food online is to make sure that it is fresh and that all of the packages are undamaged when they are received.

When your delivery arrives make sure you ask the delivery driver to wait a few minutes why you thoroughly check each item. Of course you will not want to take too long doing this, but just browse through everything and make sure that none of the items have a hole in them, or are damaged in any way. If they are then you can point it out to the driver, and then call the store to make sure that they credit your account. Also if you realize that after ordering for a while this problem continues to happen then you will probably want to stop ordering from them.

If you do decide to purchase meat and produce online be careful to inspect it thoroughly before serving it to your family. But I would like to point out that there have not been any major complaints about home food delivery. Most of the people who have tried home delivery seem to be very happy with the results.

Julian rouas paris is great

So do you think perfume is about romance, about a nicely wrapped box from-or for-someone you love? When you think of perfume, do you think about the way it makes you feel, about the sensual pleasures of its scent, its color, the way its package is designed?

Well, think some more, because perfume is also a business, and its clientele are one among the world's best-researched markets. There are about eight thousand scents in commercial distribution around the globe, whose composition is carefully protected by those who paid a lot of money to develop them. Not only are their formulations carefully protected, but they're well-researched as well to make sure that they appeal to the right markets. Because the perfumes that sell in Asia, don't sell in the Middle East; Americans like different perfumes than the French.

Strong scents don't seem to sell in Asia, and for that reason a number of manufacturers only distribute eau de toilette. In the Latin countries and the Middle East, people prefer scents that linger. The French are more likely to buy complex, plush, rococo scents; consumers in the US and Canada prefer sporty, innovative perfumes. While Alain Lorenzo, president of Parfums Givenchy, explained to the New York Times, "The rule of thumb is richer scents are preferred by Latin and black cultures and fresher ones by European cultures," the lines aren't at all clear when it seems that vanilla scents sell well in all markets; Hispanic-American women prefer fruity-floral scents.

Since each market is different, let's look at one in particular: Dubai. In 1999, this port of entry into the United Arab Emirates, imported $146 million dollars worth of perfumes and toilet waters. Just under half (48%) came from France, with significant market share distributed between the USA (12.6%), Italy (6.8%), Switzerland (3%) and Germany (2.8%). France's domination of this market is telling; because among the 250 regional markets where French perfumes appear, the UAE ranks twelfth.

Dubai shoppers prefer designer brands, and leading French perfumers-like Givenchy-will plan to release new scents in Paris and the Gulf, simultaneously; Christian Dior has more than 70 retail outlets across the Gulf Cooperation Council countries (that include Dubai). France's significance for Dubai, and Dubai's significance to France, is unlikely to shift in the near future, even though German exports of perfumes, beauty products, and personal care products have doubled in the past decade. German-manufactured cosmetic, toiletry, and perfumes have achieved a reputation for innovation, quality, and product safety.

Interest in the fashion industry is on the rise, and so are the opportunities – and the competition. It is relatively easy to earn a degree in fashion design, merchandising, or fashion marketing. Each of these segments focuses on a different aspect of the fashion industry. As the fashion industry continues to grow, there is an increased need for educated and specialized staff in the fashion world. Those who have the appropriate fashion degree education will find that they are more marketable in this competitive industry. You will find that a fashion degree education offers programs that are tailored to what specific field you are interested in. The three main opportunities with a fashion degree are fashion design, fashion marketing and fashion merchandising.

Becoming a fashion designer is a dream for many people. But only those with artistic ability and serious determination will succeed in this competitive industry. A fashion designer has an eye for lines, textures and color and brings their vision to life through drafting. Once a final sketch is complete, the designer must choose materials to be used in the final product. After the fabric is chosen, a pattern is cut from the fabric and sewn together.

Fashion Marketing involves the advertising, design and business side of the fashion business. A fashion marketer has to have a comprehensive knowledge of the fashion industry to be able to identify what will be stylish and appealing to their target markets. They are responsible for recognizing and tracking upcoming trends as well as being familiar with the various consumer groups. Fashion marketing connects the designers to the public by tracking consumer-buying habits. The fashion marketer then come up with advertising campaigns to target specific groups that might be interested in the products.

Fashion Merchandising and marketing work hand in hand. Fashion merchandisers are responsible for buying the clothes and presenting them to stores. One of the largest parts of fashion merchandising is creating displays to help consumers want to buy the products. Fashion marketing is basically the selecting of clothing lines and choosing how the will be presented to the market.

You should consider a career in the fashion industry if any of the above fields are appealing to you. Fashion is a career that combines business aptitude and an artistic eye. When you have a degree in fashion, you will make more money and hold higher positions than those without formal training.

Summertime brings picnics, road trips, outdoor hikes, plenty of fun in the sun, and long car rides. When packing a cooler and food on your excursions, it is important to remember some key food safety tips. Food-borne illnesses run a high risk of occurrences throughout the summer months, as outdoor picnics, buffets, and barbeques can pose many hazards. Germs do multiply faster in the summer, as heat and humidity are the perfect conditions for increases.

Although it may be tempting to forego food preparation concerns when you’re on the road, it’s still wise to take care of the following food safety issues before they lead to a potential health danger:

1. When grocery shopping on warm days, try and go to the store and back in as little time as possible. This will prevent potential wilting of fresh fruits and vegetables, eggs turning bad, or other dairy or refrigerator items from turning rancid from the heat.

2. Take a well-stocked cooler for trips lasting longer than 1 hour, as you will need cold sports drinks, water, or other beverages to stay hydrated.

3. Choose plastic bottles over canned beverages while on the road, as these are less likely to explode from the heat!

4. Don’t eat any leftovers that have been sitting in a car or outside for longer than 45 minutes.

5. Place all food or leftovers in a cooler or mini fridge as soon as possible

6. Mayonnaise is not a good pot-luck choice for outdoor picnics, as it can get bad very quickly. Dairy products also fall into this category, so pick your menu selections wisely.

7. Keep all food preparation surfaces clean, germ-free, and wash your hands frequently

8. To prevent bacteria from taking over your favorite dish, make sure that hot food is kept hot, and cold foods kept cold. Hot food should be served at 140 degrees F. or above, and cold foods at 40 degrees F. or below.

9. It’s essential that meat is thawed appropriately and does not drip on other foods! This is an easy road to food contamination.

10. Always serve food on clean plates, and use paper plates if needed for convenience and cleanliness.

11. At a buffet or picnic, discard food that may have been left at room temperature for more than two hours.

12. Secure clean drinking water at your picnic or barbeque site, and bring your own bottled water if necessary.

13. Use frozen gel packs and lots of ice to pack your cooler.

14. Separate raw meats and foods from fresh vegetables, fruits and other ready-to-eat items and prevent cross-contamination.

15. Cover trash containers and garbage areas well to avoid flies and other insects from approaching food areas.

With these food safety tips in mind, you are sure to enjoy a safe and healthy summer. Check the weather for heat advisories, and as always, don’t forget the sunscreen!

Unwind and chill

Today, as the baby boomers age, obesity is at record levels and adult onset diabetes is at an almost epidemic stage. More and more of this demographic is realizing that healthy foods, products, and lifestyles are part of a preventive package they can take into their own hands. The natural and organics industry is experiencing an annual growth rate of about 10 percent. At a recent Natural Products Trade Show, more than 36,000 professional and trade attendees from over 80 countries attended. Some of the almost 1500 exhibits at the show focused on children's and even pet's health food products. There seems to be an ever-changing opinion among the experts as to what is and isn't healthy. First it was the animal fats and hydrogenated oils, then carbohydrates and trans-fats became the bad guys.. Now some carbohydrates are good and others are considered bad. Pretty much everyone agrees that natural, organically grown food is healthier than its chemically processed brother. The fast food industry has responded by offering more low fat choices on their menus, but not all of these are healthy to eat. The snack food industry doesn't seem to be worried either, knowing that we all crave something sweet or salty at times. For those of you who may have included eating healthier as one of your New Year's resolutions, here are some of the best health and natural food stores in St. Louis:

Whole Foods Market 1601 South Brentwood (314) 968-7744 The largest of the health food stores in St. Louis, Whole Foods tries to bring an all-inclusive shopping experience to its customers. They have a full-service bakery offering hearth baked breads and delicious pastries. Seafood is shipped from their own wharf and arrives at the store within 24 hours. All of the meats and poultry are free of hormones and growth stimulants. All of the produce is, of course, organically grown, some of it coming from local sources. The natural foods industry has expanded to include not only all of the food categories, but also nutritional supplements, cleaning products, and even pet foods. If you're looking for selection, then this is the place to go.

Wild Oats 8823 Ladue Road (314) 721-8004 Though not as large as Whole Foods, Wild Oats was the first "mega" health food store in the St. Louis area. They have a full service natural food supermarket featuring over 200 organic produce items daily. They claim that all of their products are now 100% trans-fat free. Check out their organic juice and coffee bar, or have lunch in their deli. The deli features new "corn-tainers" instead of plastic. The corn is biodegradable and better for the environment. Wild Oats carries the largest selection of vitamins and supplements in the area and I have found that they are very knowledgeable about all of the latest trends. They also offer free lectures and cooking classes in the café. Calendars of these events are available at the store.

Natural Way 8110 Big Bend (314) 961-3541 Natural Way is more like an old fashioned health food store with wooden floors and a small grocery and produce department. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable here. They have a large selection of vitamins and supplements, some of which aren't available at the giant places. I am also impressed with the large selection of books and educational materials that they have.

Relaxation Techniques

They used to be all over the place: dotted through the neighborhoods as prolific as the corner grocer, confectionery, and drugstore. They were scattered along highways like Route 66 and Route 40. All the fast food places were patterned after them. McDonalds used to be one. There were two of them close by where I lived: Ann's and Dixie's. They were small, with only two or three booths along the wall and a countertop. You could almost tell how good the food was going to be by the amount of grease on the cook's apron. And he would wipe your spoon on it if you asked him to. It was the place lunch ladies went to retire, bringing with them their pink shirts and white aprons and the mole on their chins.

You could get a hand-pattied burger there, sometimes put underneath a press, sometimes cooked on a bed of onions. The toasted side of the bun offered some protection, but in the end the bun was always soaked with grease. And then there was the chili. The chili, like its venerable counterpart, Chop Suey, was the waste collector. All the little bits of beef or burger that were to small or burnt to serve. Add some spices and some beans and you were ready to pour it on anything. There always seemed to be a good share of characters on the customer side of the counter too. The chain-smoking lady with the stained fingertips sipping her coffee, or the old man reading the newspaper and talking to himself. Of course we're talking about the American Diner.

A "true" diner is a prefabricated structure that is built at an assembly site and then transported to a permanent location to serve food. The word "diner" is a derivative of "dining car." Decommissioned railroad cars or trolleys were often converted into diners by those who couldn't afford to purchase a new one. Here are a few of the best ones in St. Louis:

Courtesy Diner 1121 Hampton. (314) 644-2600 This is a newer version of the old one that sat at the same location for many years. The new equipment shines better and the checkered floors are cleaner, but the comfort food hasn't changed. The bacon and egg breakfasts here are classic American and the pancake stacks are superb. One thing you might want to do if you are planning a trip to the Courtesy: starve yourself for a couple of days and then order a Slinger. A Slinger is a fat and calorie toxic heap of meats, beans, and cheeses, sometimes mixed with eggs. Sure to send those cholesterol numbers soaring and the taste buds hopping.

Eat-Rite Diner 622 Choteau. (314) 621-9621 The slogan here is: "Eat-Rite or Don't Eat At All." And if it's three o'clock in the morning, you'll probably take their word for it. Unlike Courtesy, Eat-Rite has counter seating only. With six hamburgers for only $4.50, or a Slinger with crumbled hamburger, sausage and bacon or a T-Bone steak for $6.95, you may want to get a to-go order and take it home instead.

Tiffany's 7402 Manchester. (314) 644-0929 Tiffany's, (and a whole block of business next to it) almost fell to the wrecking ball recently when a developer wanted to use eminent domain to build a shopping center. Neighborhood residents went up in arms and circulated a petition and posted signs all over the area, finally forcing city hall to back down. Tiffany's is one of the smallest eateries that I have ever been to, but it packs a powerful punch to the square inch. Omelets are under five bucks and a burger Slinger will run you about $1.50 to $2.95. If you sit at the counter you WILL be engaged in conversation and make new friends, you simply have no other choice.

White Knight Diner 1801 Olive. (314) 772-6100 Now known as the Super Sandwich Shop. Pretty standard diner fare, but the interesting thing about this place is it was the scene of the movie "White Palace" starring Susan Sarandon. The production company decided to film there when the local White Castle chain refused to accommodate them.

Relaxing

I love to cook, and as a result, my kitchen cabinets and pantry are filled with all manner of cooking related gadgets, tools & implements, and various appliances. The appliance I find myself using most often is a Black & Decker Food Steamer, which performs its duties admirably for me about 5 times a week. This excellent food preparation device costs only approximately $30.00, depending upon where you might purchase it.

The Black & Decker Food Steamer is an electric steamer that can more than adequately steam large quantities of food - everything from rice to seafood to chicken to vegetables, and the results are always delicious, aromatic, and healthy.

But perhaps the simple description offered above has not yet intrigued you or brought you to the level of excitement I tend to feel whenever I prepare a new batch of food to be steamed. Perhaps you do not yet see the allure of this fine piece of kitchen equipment.

If more inspiration is needed, then imagine a bowl of steaming fresh cauliflower, a brilliant white, speckled with black pepper, and a pat of butter melting over the top. The enticing aroma of sweet basil greets you first, and then the taste, tender-crisp with the subtle flavor of sweet basil infused with the cauliflower.

Such delicious fare is possible thanks to the built-in flavor scenter on the Black & Decker Food Steamer. Beneath the large bowl of food is a small screened compartment where you can place any manner of herbs and spices. Fresh basil or rosemary, garlic or sage, the rising steam will capture the essence of the aromatic herbs and subsequently impart the flavor and aroma into the steamed food. For heavenly herb-scented delight, the flavor scenter is a masterful highlight.

The steamer itself is very easy to use, and an included guidebook lets you know approximate steaming times for a large variety of foods, along with suggestions for various herbs that can accompany and enhance the food. The steamer is very compact and lightweight, and set up is simple.

Fill the base to the required level with water, set the tray with the flavor scenter and then the bowl of food on top, cover with the lid and set the timer to the required time, and in a short while, your dinner or side dish will be ready to serve. An insert for steaming more than one food at a time is also included, which makes a great time-saver and solves the problem of my wife and I wanting two different side dishes. A timer and automatic shutoff allows you to relax or prepare other parts of your meal without needing to keep the food steamer under a watchful eye.

Imagine a dinner of hot, tender, plump jumbo shrimp, scented and flavored with garlic and thyme, then drizzled with olive oil, beautifully white-pink in color and delectably sweet in flavor. After greedily consuming a plate of steamed shrimp, there simply is no other alternative. One can only imagine what the marvelous food steamer can do for lobster tails drizzled with clarified butter!

Because I've become more health conscious, I've also become aware of the health benefits of using the steamer, which makes the food much more enjoyable as well. Using the steamer enables the food to retain all its vital nutrients, which can otherwise be lost in other cooking methods. And because the Black & Decker Food Steamer is adept at delivering perfect, rice, vegetables, and other foods every time, with mouth-watering fresh flavor, we are encouraged to use it often, thus ensuring we eat healthily quite often.

The included rice bowl can easily handle four cups of rice or other vegetable, and the main bowl of the food steamer is capable of holding about 2 1/2 quarts of food. My wife and I are constantly amazed at how wonderfully the food steamer performs, and how bright and fresh the food appears when done, not to mention a taste that you can fully savor.

Clean up is as simple as setup. All the parts fit easily into a dishwasher or can be washed by hand, and then stored compactly back on a shelf or in the cabinet. Purchased on a whim, I would not have thought that this Black & Decker Food Steamer would become such a main attraction at dinner nearly every night, but I am certainly thankful for its company and its skills.

Food is a big issue on a farm. You need to feed the animals, so you have to grow food, which often feeds the family as well. Then there's all the processing of food that has to be done to store it. When it comes to feeding the farm animals, though, many farmers could be overlooking a few resources in their own home town.

Ever wonder what happens to outdated food from grocery stores? Food stores throw out tons and tons of food every year because the expiration date has passed without anyone buying the products. Since most people aren't interested in purchasing food that's gone out of date, stores simply throw the bakery goods, meats, cheeses, and other groceries into the dumpster.

In reality, some of these foods are still good - at least for pets and farm animals. Many products have a date stamped which says "Best when used by...", meaning the product is its freshest and best-tasting before that date. Many of these products are still perfectly fine for feeding farm animals.

Talk to some of the local grocers to see if you can pick these throwaways up rather than letting them get hauled to the dump. Many of the managers will give you these items for free if you'll come and load them on a specific date, usually once a week or every two weeks.

Another place that throws away massive quantities of food is a restaurant. The foods left over on plates are scraped into a trash can before being placed in the dishwasher. Cooks often cut away bones, fat and such, too, while they're preparing orders. These foods are thrown into the dumpster at night, but many managers will allow farmers to take the foods home if they pick the garbage bags up at the end of each shift, or each night, depending upon how often they throw it out. Call some of the restaurants in your home town to see if you can scavenge some of their throwaways for your farm animals. It can amount to quite a bit of food over a period of time.

Bakeries throw out hundreds of loaves of bread, buns, cakes, pies and other items. These food items are perfect for pigs, especially, since they'll eat just about anything. Bakeries usually check stock once a week and remove outdated items from the store. Phone area bakeries to see if they will allow you to pick the foods up for your animals.

Schools also throw away quite a lot of food. On the first day of school, check with the cafeteria manager to see if you can haul away uneaten food. They generally just scrape trays into a trash can and take it to the dumpster, so they shouldn't have any problem with giving it to you if you ask.

It takes a huge amount of food to take care of a farm full of animals. Of course, you'll still have to buy feed but the scrap foods can help you stretch the budget. Other sources to consider are farm and garden markets that sell fruits and veggies, or sidewalk cafes that usually have plenty of leftover, half-eaten baked goods. Food scraps should be used immediately and you should never give molded or rotted foods to animals.

It has been the dream of many people to create their own fashion business. This may have been a dream they have nurtured since their early childhood. However, if the opportunity  of creating a Fashion Design Business did not arrive at an appropriate working age and the distractions of every day life took control of their time, then eventually they would have lost the dream for several years.

Nature has a way of giving us what we really want in life. There will come a time when the dream of owning a fashion design business will return in full force. It will creep up suddenly until it takes over every thought of your time. You'll find yourself reading all the fashion magazine and articles, doodling sketches on every scrap piece of paper, visualising designs and eventually you will have no alternative but to put your dream into action.

The first thing you will have to take into account is the 'where' of your fashion business. What a lot of people don't realise is that many fashion designers started their  businesses as a home business in their kitchens, garages or spare rooms. The fashion business is the sort of business which could be started from home and on a very tight budget.

Bruce Oldfied and Laura Ashley were two such designers who started this way and went on to create extremely successful international fashion design businesses. They, amongst other designers, have enthused many to live out their dream of becoming successful fashion designers themselves.

Working in the fashion business is very exciting and exhilarating. There are times when the adrenaline will be flowing. You'll feel ecstatic with happiness because everything is running better than you expected. On the other hand, there will be times when you will be in absolute despair because of the amount of work you have to complete within given target times and all because your designs were so successful!. You'll constantly be finding inspiration for your designs, therefore one very important tool you will always have to have at hand is a notebook to take notes before the inspiration disappears.

There is only one way to start your fashion business and that is, just do it.

So many people in the world would be successful today if they had followed those three little words.

Create your designs in speed. [Why speed, you are probably wondering. ] This is because, if you keep waiting to get it right, you may never get it going. You will need stacks of tenacity and determination but if you keep a picture in mind of owning your own successful fashion business, then nothing is going to stop you.

Britney Spears Curious Perfume Review: Introduction

The Britney Spears Curious perfume hit store shelves in 2004 and was marketed by a very sensual commercial in which Britney Spears had starred in. The commercial depicted Ms. Britney Spears fantasizing about a man in the next room. The commercial hyped up the perfume so much that women all over rushed to store shelves to buy the Britney Spears Curious fragrance. With all the hype surrounding the commercial, is the Britney Spears Curious perfume appropriate for all women of age?

Britney Spears Curious Perfume Review: The Product & Packaging

The Britney Spears Curious fragrance comes in a package that is a black box decorated with metallic blue and pink flowers all over. The fragrance bottle itself is of turquoise color and made of glass. The bottle is very elegant and that it can be compared to antique perfume containers. The perfume bottle is odd shaped, almost like of a spaceship. Pink removable heart charms are added around the spray top of the Britney Spears Curious fragrance. All fragrance bottles are equipped with a silver push down spray top; however, larger sizes of the perfume can purchase an attachment that you squeeze a bulb to make the fragrance dispense such as how antique perfumes used to be. Gift sets for the Britney Spears Curious perfume are available as well as numerous sizes of the perfume. Fragrance sizes vary and mostly consist of 3.4 ounces and 1.7 ounces. The Curious scent line also has a Britney Spears Curious Perfume Body Soufflé and shower gel that are perfect for layering the fragrance.

Britney Spears Curious Perfume Review: The Fragrance

According to the advertisements of the Britney Spears Curious perfume, the fragrance can be described as sensual and romantic. The perfume is created by using Louisiana magnolia flowers, vanilla, musk, golden Anjou pear, and dewy lotus flowers. The perfume is on the lightweight in terms of powerfulness. Thus, the scent wears off rather quickly and must be reapplied within several hours. The Britney Spears Curious perfume is appropriate for all women of age. The scent is neither too trendy or overbearing.

Britney Spears Curious Perfume Review: Conclusion

The Britney Spears Curious perfume is widely distributed in most retail outlets such as: Wal-Mart, Macys, Dillards, and numerous other vendors. The fragrance can also be found online at discount prices. A 3.4 ounce bottle of the Curious perfume will cost between $40 to $50. The fragrance is one of those perfumes that a consumer will either love or hate. I would recommend buying a smaller version of the Britney Spears Curious perfume and trying the scent out for a week until investing in a larger bottle of the perfume.

When I discovered that the perfume I was about to review had a ginormous price tag of $1,500... I nearly had a heart attack. Especially seeing how my mom picked this bottle up for only $1.00. Yep, $1.00 for a $1,500 bottle of perfume.

It pays to shop at thrift stores girls! So nyah to everyone who judged me based on my thrift store purchases.

For $1.00 approximately one week ago my mom walked out of our local thrift store with a pretty bottle of perfume. Today while looking for pricing information and availability of this perfume, I realized what she had found was more than what we could of ever imagined.

A 0.5 ounce bottle of Donna Karan Chaos. It turns out DKNY Chaos is a rare, highly sought after, discontinued, expensive fragrance. Who knew?!

Appearance:

The 0.5 ounce bottle is probably the most unique thing about it, and with momma Dukes being a collector of crystal, she bought it for it's appearance. Who would of thought at the time that her $1.00 find was seriously a down payment on a car?! Woo-Hoo! The 0.5 ounce bottle comes in a perfume bottle made of Falcon Crystal. It is long, and narrow, and quite frankly the most beautiful bottle in her collection.

Due to it's narrow crystal slim cut, it cannot be placed upright. You can however leave it in the box, or place it down.

The Scent:

Now when I first inhaled DKNY Chaos, I was not very impressed. To me Chaos smelled like pencil shavings, and burnt wood. Chaos apparently is not for me. I love woody outdoor scents, but Chaos is too strong for my likings. It just reminds me of a lumber yard; for some this is a lovely fragrance...but me...meh.

After discovering that Chaos was so pricey, I tried giving it the benefit of the doubt. I mean hell, there has to be a reason it's so costly. After giving Chaos another try, (which was hard to do, seeing how every frigging spray shot cost nearly $70.00 or more per shot, considering 0.5 ounces does not get you far. However I had to try Chaos once more for this reviews sake).

A more elaborate summary of the rare Chaos scent:

For the first 2 hours I smelled like pencil shavings. However Donna Karan Chaos took on another mild scent the longer I wore it. I was now able to smell a more subtle amber scent, which was likable...but not worth $1,500!

As more time progressed the woodsy scent turned into a more subtle cedar mixed with musk. I actually began to like it more and more as the initial scent faded.

As I looked into Chaos even more, I learned that it contains the rare Agarwood as a fragrance note. Agarwood makes Chaos smell so darn woodsy. It comes from the Asian Aquilaria tree. Due to the low number of these trees, Agarwood is more rare, which makes it more expensive...which is why Donna Karan's Chaos is so highly sought after...yet discontinued.

Last:

DKNY Chaos stood with me for the entire day, and was still detectable into the night.

Pricing and Availability:

DKNY Chaos is very expensive, and only serious lovers of the scent would pay such a high price. The 0.5 ounce Falcon Crystal bottle of Chaos goes for around $1,500, or less on ebay. However I learned that larger bottle of Chaos sell for a bit less. I assume it is because the larger bottles are mode of glass, and not crystal. Either way though, Chaos; no matter what size bottle it comes in, asks for a hearty lump of cash.

For those interested in perhaps purchasing Chaos, click here.

Recommendation:

DKNY Chaos is expensive, for some worth the price tag. For me though...moms bottle is landing a spot on ebay. I find that the price is just too ridiculous for what you are actually getting.

If you’re looking for a special gift for a woman you know, perfume is always a good choice. It’s also always nice to save money, so here is a round-up of some of the best selling perfume for women, under $50.

5th Avenue Eau de Parfum Spray 1 fl oz – Average Street Price: $40

5th Avenue’s Eau du Parfum Spray offers a floral bouquet, that’s not overpowering. The top notes include delicate fragrances like lilac, mixed with stronger fragrances like magnolia. The heart notes bring in some spice, with nutmeg, ginger and a hint of violet. The bottom notes are finished off with amber, sandalwood and vanilla. This perfume is perfect for a woman who likes floral scent, but prefers a little spicy mystery too.

Elizabeth Arden Red Door Revealed Eau de Parfum Touch-On Pen .23 fl ounces – Average Street Price $20

This timeless classic scent is now available in a handy touch-pen, which makes quick applications even easier. The size is small, which is necessary for its on-to-go usage, but it should last for a longer time, if used sparingly. The top notes include pink peony and mackay orchid, while the heart notes bring in a little bit of lily and orange flower petals. A stronger musk base is layered with black amber for a finishing touch.

Passion for Women Eau de Toilette Spray 1.5 fl oz (44 ml) Average Street Price: $39.00

This perfume has been a favorite for many women for decades. It blends in some oriental notes with ylang ylang and jasmine, but livens up these sometimes heavy scents with top notes of roses and lily of the valley. The bottom notes give this perfume its signature appeal, and include Indian sandalwood, American cedarwood with a touch of incense. This perfume can be heavy, if over applied, but with just the right amount, it’s an interesting mix of floral and musk scents.

Urban Decay Fragrance – Average Street Price $29.50

Urban Decay has quickly come on the market as one of the hottest new perfume manufacturers. This signature fragrance is light and airy and perfect for a younger woman, or any woman who enjoys a mix of fruity and earthy scents. The top notes include Yuzu, which is a citrus tree found in Japan, as well as grapefruit. The bottom notes of lavender, oceanic musk combine well with the heart note of fresh-cut grass. This is truly a fun perfume that is not overpowering.

Curious by Britney Spears Eau de Parfum, Spray 1 fl oz – Average Street Price $29.50

Curious has been a hit with younger buyers and offers a fruity mix of Anjou pears with the stronger scent of Louisiana magnolias. The bottom notes include vanilla and sandalwood, to balance out the fruity and flowery notes. The heart notes provide an interesting completion by mixing star jasmine with pink cyclamen.

Calvin Klein CK Be Eau de Toilette Pour/Spray 1.7 fl oz (50 ml) – Average Street Price $28.00

While this scent never enjoyed the popularity of CK One, it is still a favorite for many buyers. The second unisex cologne from Calvin Klein is a bit heavier than the first and includes notes of bergamot, juniper berry and white musk. The heart notes bring in a spicier tone mixed with fruit, while the bottom notes finish off the scent with sandalwood and tonka bean.

BVLGARI Black Eau de Toilette 1.3 fl oz (40 ml) - Average Street Price: $46.00

Bvlgari Black is another unisex favorite that is meant to last for hours. This is a perfect fragrance for a woman who doesn’t want to have to keep reapplying her perfume throughout the day. The top notes include black tea and bergamot, while the heart notes even the balance with cedar and vanilla. The spicy bottom notes include sandalwood and musk and provide a strong base for the above notes.

poem bottle C1b perfume 3 by howardkendall42

Many people find a perfume they love and use it for years. While there is certainly nothing wrong with this approach, one can run the risk of becoming so accustomed to the perfume that it is easy to become immune to the scent and over use it. All of us know the woman who practically knocks you over with her perfume and none of us want to be that woman! To create a unique touch acquiring a fragrance wardrobe is highly recommended. Just as jewelry or shoes can add a distinctive touch to your outfits, perfume has the power to do the same. You wouldn't wear the same thing to a formal dinner as you would to a sporting event so it certainly makes sense that the perfume you choose should vary according to place and time.

To understand how to choose the perfect perfume for the right occasion you need to understand the perfume categories. Perfume categories are growing by the day and they can and do sometimes overlap. Due to the rapidly growing popularity of niche perfumes and the advances in scientific research new and unique scent categories are created every day.

The Fragrance Foundation is the authority on all things perfume and their fragrance categories are as follows: (from the Fragrance Foundation website www.fragrance.org). These descriptions are listed on the first page of their excellent site filled with fantastic fragrance information.

Citrus
The light, fresh character of citrus notes (bergamot, orange, lemon, petitgrain, mandarin, etc.) is often combined with more feminine scents (flowers, fruits and chypre).

Green
Green notes are natural in character; often married with fruity and floral notes, they are modern and fashionable.

Flowery
An accord of different floral notes. Combines with any other family, flowery perfumes are universally commercial.

Flowery Aldehydic
Aldehydes add sparkle to flowery notes. Aldehydic creations radiate elegance and originality.

Single Floral
A composition based on the scent of one particular flower; the main examples are rose, jasmine, tuberose, lily of the valley or ylang.

Oriental
A blend of warmth and mystery. Musks and precious woods are complemented by exotic essences.

Semi-Oriental
Semi-orientals combine oriental notes with various florals. Top notes are often fresh.

Chypre
Based on a woody, mossy and flowery complex, sometimes with aspects of leather or fruits, chypre perfumes are rich and tenacious.

(From www.fragrance.org)

There are other categories, however, understanding these will help you to determine how to match your perfume to the occasion. Perfume websites also frequently describe scents by categories. The Luckyscent and Sephora websites both feature very helpful sections that will help you to choose a perfume by its fragrance family.

There are perfume classics and disasters in each of the categories. The informative book Perfume The Guide by Luca Turin and Tania Sanchez is a wonderful resource that rates perfumes and can be an invaluable resource to help you avoid the disasters and discover the greats in each category.

Citrus and green scents are often good choices for the work place. Citrus fragrances are fresh and light and green fragrances can be warm and natural and convey sophistication.

Flowery, single note florals and flowery aldehydics are good choices for that all important first date or elegant sophisticated gatherings. Consider a perfume from this category if you want to stay within a more conventional fragrance family.

Chypre scents, popular in the thirties, are making a comeback in a big way. These fragrances are statement making and generally you will either love them or absolutely hate them. They convey an evocative and rich presence and the best are well balanced and beautiful. This category is a great choice when you want to distinguish yourself with a unique perfume.

Orientals. These are excellent choices for that special evening or when you want to add mystery and sex appeal to that little black dress. They are generally heavy and have a very strong presence so wearing them in the office may not be the best idea.

There are thousands of perfumes available and just a spray will help to create a mood make a memory or mark a special occasion. Don't limit yourself to just one...enjoy the possibilities!

Perfume .. by || Msh3L ||

I used to like Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen; that was until I saw their mugs pasted on the PETA website. Turns out the twins like fur... I like animals... so now, the girls suck. But hey, so does their perfume!!!

I have had 2 bottles of perfume by Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen for quite some time now. One is labeled, coincidentally...One. The other is called Two. Today though, we're going to focus on One.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, is actually made by Coty. A designer name that has been popping up a lot lately. I have mixed feelings when it comes to Coty fragrances. I don't love the designer fragrances, nor do I hate them.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, has sad on my desk for nearly a year now. I got both from a friend for my birthday, and ever since first smelling them, I never really used it again.

Bottle:

One comes in a cylinder shaped bottle. The glass is clear with a very slight tint of blue added in. Running down the length of the bottle is the name of the perfume. There is nothing special about the bottle, nor would anyone want to save it once the perfume was gone.

Scent:

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, by Coty smells like blueberry mixed with hand soap. It is supposed to be a clean, fresh scent. However I got a soapy blueberry bubble gum scent. It's not really that natural, but it is a relatively playful scent.

I liked it. I really did. Even though the scent was not a natural one, or sophisticated one, it was still a pleasant one.

Last:

So I liked the scent... however there is no point in liking a scent that does not last for longer than 5 minutes. That was seriously all I got out of Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, by Coty. The scent smelled lovely for 5 minutes, and then it vanished; up and disappeared... not a hint, not a trace...just gone.

Recommended Wear:

What wear? There is no wear to recommend wear.

Overall:

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, by Coty is a nice scent, it truly is. Sadly though, nice scents are 100% useless if they do not last. For me Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, is a waste of natural resources. It's sad that they would release such a suck-o-rama in a bottle.

Pricing and Availability:

You can still see this crummy stick of perfume in local stores such as Walmart, Kohl's and other department stores. The pricing is around $10.00 for the bottle. You can also buy them in gift sets, which would include both One, and Two.

Sadly though, I do not even find One, to be worth $1.00.

Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, One, by Coty is a skip in my opinion. It just does not stick around long enough for me to go ahead and recommend it.

Trying to come up with a menu for your baby shower? Are you in charge of the baby shower food? Are you trying to figure out what sorts of refreshments would best suit your baby shower attendees?

When a baby is born, everyone seems to shine. Fathers get all “goo goo ga ga” with their babies. Grandparents are proud and want to take lots of pictures. Siblings want to hold the baby, and sometimes the last thing on your mind is planning what to serve at a baby shower.

Traditional baby shower food includes cake, mints, and punch. Those can vary depending on your taste, but if you’re thinking of something a little more exciting and less traditional, here are some ideas.

Baby shower food: Going Mexican!

Some good friends of mine are Spanish and during a baby shower for a close friend of theirs, they planned a Mexican baby shower food theme that included burritos, a taco salad, enchiladas and several types of dips. For fun, they had a piñata, a baby naming game and a Spanish line dance!

Baby shower food can also take on the theme of the shower. For example, if you’re having a baby shower with a storybook theme, you may want to have baby shower food to complement the theme. Foods may vary from all fruit and vegetables, to different types of chocolates and cookies. Cold meats or sandwiches may also be an idea if you want to make your baby shower more like a lunch.

To cater or not to cater

Some women decide it’s less trouble to cater the baby shower than to try to come up with baby shower food ideas. Once again, your choice of food should be considered based on the number of people attending and their tastes. Italian finger foods and cookies might be a good idea, as well as catered meatballs, cheese dips, and kabobs. Baby shower food items can be specialized to meet the special needs of those present.

Baby shower food, where to buy it

If you’ve decided not to have the baby shower catered, and are going to make it more of a homemade cooking event, the question might come up as to where you want to shop for the baby shower food. Of course, any grocery store would do, but there are party stores that especially cater to wedding and baby shower foods. Also, large outlet or food clubs are another good way to purchase items in bulk. Besides food, you can purchase decorations, punch, gifts and games for your party.

Baby shower food should be tasty, inexpensive and attractive. If you’re making finger foods yourself, you may want to shape them into cute little items like baby boots, baby carriages and etc. The choices are endless and the process can be as creative and diverse as you choose.

The key to a great baby shower is not only the baby shower food, but the theme, the games, the decorations and the mood of the party. Get all those working together and you’re bound for success!

Musky Perfume by KristinaVF

I have discovered a new favorite perfume in the last couple of years. It's called "Rapture" and it's manufactured by Victoria's Secret. It was introduced in 1992. It's a versatile all-around scent that can be worn day or night.

Rapture by Victoria's Secret is a complex blend of many scents. These include orange blossom and citrus, musk, amber, vanilla, freesia, jasmine, and rose. Rapture would be classified as an oriental fragrance. Rapture smells very feminine and luxurious. Victoria's Secret Rapture is a sophisticated perfume that is not heavy at all. It smells very clean and light. I prefer simple fragrances, so this was a change of pace for me.

Rapture's top notes are mainly citrus and orange blossom. The middle notes consist of freesia, jasmine and rose. These heart notes tend to last for quite awhile. The base note mainly consists of amber, with a hint of vanilla and musk. The base notes are very deep and sensual.

Victoria's Secret Rapture is available in many products and sizes. The cologne spray is in .75 ounce and 1.7 ounce bottles. A purse spray is available. Rapture is also available as a body wash that is called shower cream. It is thicker than most body washes. It leaves your skin feeling very silky and smelling great. An 8 ounce bottle of Rapture Pure Silk body lotion can also be bought. Victoria's Secret also offers Rapture Gift Box sets of different products.

Rapture by Victoria's Secret is a bit expensive. The 1.7 ounce bottle of cologne spray is $35. The .75 ounce purse spray is $19.50. Rapture Rich Velvet body cream costs $21. Rapture Pure Silk body lotion is priced at $20. The gift box sets are found during holidays and usually cost about $85.

The packaging will probably be Rapture's downfall. The perfume is packaged in an attractive heart shaped bottle with gold trim. Upon closer inspection, the gold trim is gaudy cheap plastic. The red and gold cap on the perfume bottle is also made of plastic. Five dollar bottles of perfume are presented with better quality packaging.

Speaking of packaging, I have bought two of the gift box sets in different years. The first box was very nice. It was covered in red satin material and was very heavy. The gift box set I bought the following year was dreadful. It looked like a cheap box of chocolates that a person buys at the drug store.

I have made multiple purchases of Rapture perfume. Everytime without fail, the perfume bottles stop operating correctly. I had to throw away the miniature bottle that came with the gift set. The spring broke on the bottle and I couldn't fix it or find a way to get the rest of the perfume out of the bottle. It ended up leaking on my cabinet and staining it. Also after using about one-third of the perfume, every Rapture cologne bottle starts refusing to spray. The spray simply quits working. And the plastic caps always crack. Sometimes they get stuck on the bottle. The caps must be spray painted gold, because the gold starts peeling.

Sadly, I will never buy "Rapture" by Victoria's Secret again. For a fragrance to cost as much as "Rapture" does, the packaging is cheap. It's ultra cheap, in fact. And I can't afford to pay $35 for perfume that I'm forced to throw away with most of it still in the bottle.

From a smoker’s point of view, the bans on smoking may be going to far. I can understand a ban on smoking indoors – I’m okay with that. But, what I can’t understand is a ban on smoking in the great outdoors. Most smokers are courteous and will walk away from a crowd in order not to offend anyone. But, what about people who follow you when you walk away from the crowd? Has this ever happened to anyone?

While attending my daughter’s softball game, I walked away from the crowd to smoke. I walked almost to the parking lot, where there was no one near me. I lit my cigarette and after a few minutes, a woman arrived pulling an oxygen tank. This woman saw me smoking and walked about 40 steps out of her way to walk near where I stood – for the single purpose of being able to make a comment about the fact that I was smoking in public!
So, my question is this. I understand why people who do not smoke do not want to be subjected to my second-hand smoke – and I respect that. But, what do you about people who choke you with their perfume? Where are the rights for people who suffer from migraines, asthma, and allergies?

I once worked in an office with 200-300 hundred other people. In the beginning, we had a smoking and a non-smoking break-room. The two break-rooms were on opposite ends of a hallway and well ventilated. But, that was not enough for the non-smokers. They wanted us outside of the building – exposed to the elements. But, this still wasn’t enough for them – because they liked to sit outside at the picnic tables in warm weather, and there we were. So, the non-smoker’s petitioned until the smoker’s had to completely leave the property in order to smoke. They won – or did they?

I suffer from migraines. One thing that causes the onset of a migraine is strong smells, especially in the form of perfume. I pulled into the parking lot one morning as another person was going in the front door. I stepped out of my car and was almost blown away in the wake of her perfume – a wake that followed her into the building. Sometimes, a migraine hits like a bomb – out of nowhere. One minute you are fine – the next minute, Wham! By the time I got to my desk, I could barely see – and a coworker had to drive me home. I lost a day of work because of perfume!

So, the smoker’s struck back – we petitioned until we succeeded in having perfume and strong colognes banned. And, I never had to miss work again. The smoker’s were still banned from the property, but so were the days of migraines for migraine sufferers and sneezing for allergy sufferers.

If you do not want to be around the smoke from my cigarette, just ask me politely. I will gladly walk away and enjoy my cigarette in peace. But, return the same courtesy. Don’t expose me to a migraine by wearing overpowering perfume or cologne. This infringes upon my rights – and the rights of all sufferers of migraines, asthma, and allergies. So, next time you bathe, before you cover yourself with that perfume or cologne that you think makes you more appealing, think about that person who may lose a day’s pay so that you can smell nice!

Rose (Floribunda - Honey Perfume) by Rick Leche

I was at Walmart the week of Mothers day and we were shopping for mom. I was standing in the book section and realized that I was in need of some new perfume. So I scurried out of the book section and went right over to the beauty aisle to see what they had. I was stopped by the new Halle perfume advertisement and was a bit intrigued. I didn't know that she was even coming out with a new fragrance. I had heard that Halle was a work in progress but I wasn't expecting it so soon.

Walmart had a sample bottle out in the open for people to try it out. So I sprayed a little bit on my wrist, aired it out and sniffed. I was in heaven. I wasn't expecting Halle to smell the way it did but it did. So I threw it in my cart and told my husband I wanted Halle for Mother's day.

Now the one thing I wasn't happy about was the fact that Halle was $16 for just a few ounces of perfume. I took a look at my small bottle and was a little skeptical but I figured that I wouldn't have to spray a lot since it was a heavy but sweet fragrance. I was expecting for Halle to stay on me at least half of the day but It didn't. I ended up having to spray myself at least twice a day to keep the fragrance smellable.

Halle smelled extremely good and that wasn't something I could deny but I wasn't too happy with the small bottle or the fact that It didn't stick that well. I'm used to wearing Curve crush, which stays on ALL day.

I personally don't think that Halle is a good buy during the Summer time because it's so sweet. I didn't realized just how sweet it was until I had a barbecue and sprayed it on. The mosquito's ate me alive with no remorse what so ever.

As far as smell is concerned, I loved the way Halle smelled. Even my husband was in love with the smell and he is picky when it comes to perfume and women. I just don't think that it's worth buying all the time. I spend good money on good perfume that sticks to my body with ease and Halle isn't one of those perfumes.

Perfumed Sunset by dahil (Taking a break to write a book)

While many women love perfume and may even have their own signature scent, the cost of purchasing a bottle can be prohibitively expensive. Why spend $50 or more on a tiny eau de toilette when you can make a completely unique scent of your own for a fraction of the cost? Save money and make a truly original creation with just a few simple steps.

The Basics

According to the Natural Holistic Health Blog, a basic perfume formula contains 15 to 30 percent essential oils, 70 to 80 percent pure grain alcohol (vodka being recommended, as it doesn't have any additional odors or colors), and 5 percent distilled water. Adding a bit of glycerine at the end of the process is also recommended, as it will help to "fix" your perfume and keep the scent from disappearing into the air or escaping the bottle. Both glycerine and essential oils are easy to find at health food stores or even craft supply shops. Pick the kind of scents you like, when choosing essential oils, and remember that you can choose to mix and match them in order to create the perfect scent.

Necessary Supplies

Along with your basic perfume ingredients, you will also want to gather together the following items before you get started: a glass mixing jar, dedicated measuring cups and spoons, an eyedropper, a funnel and aperfume bottles or other small containers in which you can store your final product.

Method

Instructables.com offers step-by-step instructions on how to make your perfume at home. The basic procedure is as follows:

1. Measure 1/4 cup of vodka into your mixing jar.

2. Add about 25 drops of your essential oils, making sure to keep track of how many drops you've added if you are mixing scents. It may help to keep a tally on a sheet of paper, as you should add drops, swirl the mixture, and then smell as you go to make sure you don't make an overpowering scent.

3. When you've got your desired scent, seal up the mixing jar and put it into a cool, dark spot to age for at least 48 hours. The longer you age the perfume, the stronger it will become, so feel free to sniff and add more oils after the first 48 hours has passed.

4. After you've aged the perfume, add 2 tablespoons of distilled water. For spray perfumes, add a bit more water. Now is also the time to add about 5 drops of glycerine to fix the fragrance.

5. Finally, use the funnel to pour your perfume into its bottle and apply a label with the name of your new creation. You may also want to add the date so you'll know how long your perfume lasts, and when it's time to make some more!

Additional Recipes

There are lots of basic recipes on-line for perfumes, if you're not interested in tinkering with smells at first and just want to get started. Check out PioneerThinking.com for recipes with exotic names like Orient Nights, Whispering Rain, Falling Stars, Enchanted, Amaze, and Misty Passions. They've also got recipes for cologne, for the men in your life, including something called the Homemade Love Tonic!

Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is all about using scents to change your mood, so you might be interested in reading up on this topic before you begin. For a crash course in aromatherapy, check out Aromaweb.com, where you can read up on a variety of different kinds of essential oil profiles and find out how a particular scent can contribute to your overall well-being. An article from HowToDoThings.com on making perfume suggests a few quick fixes, including the following: "Jasmine and lavender can calm the anxious and aid in sleeping, orange and ylang ylang can ease anger, and sandalwood and grapefruit can fight fear. Need a boost of confidence? Try cypress or rosemary. Frankincense, rose, and bergamot can help relieve depression and grief. To increase memory powers, try black pepper and peppermint."

Notes

Finally, if you really want to get technical with your home perfume making, you should learn about notes. These are the order in which certain scents appear in a given fragrance, where the top note is the initial scent, the middle note is what you'll smell after the top note has dissolved into the air, and the base note is what lingers at the end. The Instructables directions on how to make perfume give a quick primer regarding what kinds of scents generally fall into each category, and suggest that when mixing your own perfume, you should built from the base notes up.

Typical base notes include heavy smells like patchouli, vetiver, frankincense, cedarwood and sandalwood. Middle notes are slightly less heavy, and include coriander, palmarosa, marjoram, basil, rosemary, rose geranium, pettitgrain and lavender. Top notes usually include lighter scents like lemon, orange, grapefruit, lime, bergamot, spearmint and peppermint.

Recreating Brand-Name Perfumes

Though brand-name perfumes are usually carefully guarded trade secrets, there is a website that can help you out if you're looking to re-create your favorite perfume at home. It's called the Basenotes Fragrance Directory, and although it only offers rough approximations, it can point you in the right direction by breaking down the list of scents that make up each of the notes found in your favorite department store perfumes. You may not be able to find all of the ingredients, however, as this is what you're spending the big bucks for! As one example: Calvin Klein's Obsession uses middle notes of tagete, which comes from marigold flowers, and armoise, which is actually an oral toxin and must be used very sparingly. Since these items are not likely to be readily available in your local health food store, you may want to weigh the pros and cons of creating your own fragrances versus shelling out the money for your favorite store-bought scents.

Perfumes are the feelings of flowers by {CarLee}

The boat people on the Perfume River by NaPix -- Hmong Soul

Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, born without a body odor, develops a super sense of smell, which he uses to create the world's finest perfumes. His work takes a morbid turn as he searches for the ultimate scent: human!

The way I found out about this movie has to be the strangest way I've ever found a movie. It must've been fate! I was talking to my friend, Becca, and I joked about how there should be horror-themed perfume. So, I thought I'd Google it. I did a search on the terms "horror" and "perfume" and near the top was the "Perfume" movie. I thought it was a joke so I just had to see it. After a few moments I realized it was for real and then I saw Dustin Hoffman was in it which I just had to see his role.

Going into this I wasn't sure what to expect. I pictured a fancy corporate type of setting. I was really surprised to see that it was actually set in 18th century France. It looks very authentic and beautifully done. This just set it apart from most current horror movies lately.

The story is based on the 1985 literary historical horror novel of the same name (originally published in German as Das Parfum) by German writer Patrick Süskind. It's a very unique story which is refreshing. A man killing women to make perfume out of them, even going as far as to put one victim in a giant vat to soak. How unique is that?!

The movie follows the life of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille, starting out with his birth where his poor mother tossed him out to die at the fish market. He's saved and he's passed from person to person and. growing up, His sense of smell grows to superhuman levels. Later, he comes across an aging perfume expert, played by Dustin Hoffman, and is promptly hired to create perfumes for the wealthy. Then he gets weird and starts out on his quest to create human-scented perfume. He's both sad because no one really loves and he's alone. On the other hand, he becomes an arrogant, emotionless and cold-blooded killer. Follow him on his morbid search for the impossible.

The acting is just superb. Very professionally done. I wasn't sure if he could pull off his role as Giuseppe Baldini, the aging perfume expert. But, he did so well and the make-up so good that it took me five minutes to recognize him! He did great. Ben Whishaw is perfect as Jean-Baptiste Grenouille (although he's supposed to be hideous in the book), as the emotionless killer. Alan Rickman (Prof. Snape in Harry Potter) surprised me with his appearance as Richis, one of the members of the French staff. Everyone else is just great as well.

The SFX are done well. Some might be a tiny bit gory but, overall, not very bloody. Quite a bit of female nudity and a giant orgy of nudity near the end make this not a movie for the kids (if the serial killing already didn't tell you that!).

The ending. Well, it has to be one of the weirdest, abrupt changes I ever seen in a movie. While the first 4/5's was totally serious as a horror/thriller/mystery, the last fifth suddenly turned into sort of a Brothers Grimm fairytale. It almost ruined the entire mood of the first part for me. But then it turned again, while still like a bizarre fairytale, it regained a horror note with a perfectly disgusting ending. Still, I'd of preferred it if they had kept the same "realistic" feel as the beginning. I'm not sure how the novel handled the ending but, here, it just came off as a morbid tall tale.

Overall, a very unique tale with a very weird ending. Everything about this film is professionally and beautifully done. Definitely worth a view for all horror, thriller or mystery fans.
